College Choices are more complex than ever.

"Students at public four-year institutions paid an average of $3,190 in tuition for the 1987-1988 school year, with prices adjusted to reflect 2017 dollars. Thirty years later, that average has risen to $9,970 for the 2017-2018 school year. That's a 213% increase."

        CNBC, November 29, 2017

"Over 44.7 million Americans have student loans on file, adding up to a staggering $1.56 trillion in February, 2019. The class of 2018 walked off the stage with an average debt of $29,200. The US Census reported in 2019 that 32% of Americans held a bachelor's degree or higher."

Individualized,
Customized Student
Plans

Each student has their own dreams and goals and talents so they should each have their own plan for achieving those and finding the best fit for their skills and interests. We work with each student to learn what is most important to him/her/them about what they want their lives to look like. It's a lot to ask of a high school student so sometimes it means weeding out what the student knows they don't want to do. We research programs, scholarships, schools, and careers that might spark the student's interest. We set up plans and timelines for each student to meet their needs.

Different Students
Require Different
Approaches

Some students respond best to in-person meetings.

Some students just want a text check-in once a week.

Some students need daily encouragement.

Some students respond best to brainstorming sessions via videoconferencing.

The point is, each student is different and has different needs to do their best work during this process. We work with the student and the parent to learn what combination of approaches will inspire and support the student throughout our time together.

Resume Building

Enrichment Programs
Gap Years

There is more to applying to college than submitting the application on time. There is more to high school than preparing your resume for college applications. True, students who want to be competitive will have strong academics and extracurricular activities. We work together to help students enrich their high school years while also building up their college applicant profile. Whether it's a leadership project that meets a need in the community or creating a new club at their school, we serve as a resource to help students. Out-of-classroom experiences can change people's lives, whether it's over a summer or a year abroad after graduation. We seek out opportunities for students to make the most of their high school years while they are boosting their competitive edge for colleges and scholarships.
